I was recently approached to allow Memorized to be distributed on the cover DVD of the French gaming magazine Joystick.  Of course I jumped at the chance.  I’ve been waiting for the issue to be released before posting anything, but I received my copy today (September Issue) and thought I’d share it with the world.  Not the whole magazine.  Just the Memorized article.

I’ve Google translated the article – “Five seconds is the time you have to memorize each table game platform before the light,., turns off. Then you have to jump the right places to reach the exit while avoiding obstacles. Whenever you die, the path appears again few moments to let you back on track. In a formidable efficiency, the concept attracted, especially it reminds us of the great moments of galley when the show off the Light to reach the bedroom while trying to avoid embedding itself in the knees furniture. A catchy title, really thought and taking that deserves some attention here, as it confers its playability good life.

Well that has boosted my morale 🙂 Maybe now I can find the enthusiasm and drive to work on Bit Hero or one of the countless other partially finished games, engines and prototypes I have festering away in the darkest reaches of my Hard Drive.

Hell yeah I’m on a roll.  Memorized, my memory based platformer has been featured on the wonderful Pixel Prospector.  And I’ve got to admit I had a strange stirring in the trouser department when I found out, as it’s one of my goto websites when looking for new games and a bit of inspiration when I get stuck in a rut.

Anyway the Memorized entry on Pixel Prospector can be found here. And a short playthough video of the first few levels, recorded by Pixel Prospector himself can be found on YouTube here.

These two features of my games work as great motivation to me, because enjoying making the games is sometimes not enough.  I want people to play and have an opinion about the games I create.

I was checking my GameJolt download/views totals for RogueLight the other day and discovered that the dowloads where greater than the views for certain days.  I couldn’t work it out for a while because I always link to the profile rather than the direct download, then it dawned on me, I’m getting the direct download hits from somewhere else.

So I checked my YouTube stats and found where my hits had come from.  RogueLight was featured on a Russian Games site, and for someone who has made only two games, RogueLight being my first, I was a bit chuffed to say the least.  Using the power of the t’internet I was able to translate the Russian and find out what my Russian cousins had to say, and although the English translation was wonky, most comments where rather positive.

If you feel like reading the broken English Google translation, you can clicky here.

Memorized is a Platform game that should hopefully challenge your platforming skills and your memory. The basic gameplay is simple. You are shown the level that you have to complete for 5 seconds, then the level is made invisible and you have the tools to draw where you remember platforms and obstacles to make it to the level exit on each of the 20 levels. Each time you die you are shown the level again to tweak your memory, this costs you extra time and of course adds to your death count.
